Chairman of Zinox Group and Founder of the Leo Stan Ekeh Foundation (LSEF), Mr. Leo Stan Ekeh, has donated a multimillion-naira Tech Experience Centre to the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUB), aimed at equipping students with cutting-edge digital skills for global competitiveness.
Commissioned on Ekeh’s behalf by the President of the Nigeria Computer Society, Dr. Muhammad Aliyu, the centre is fitted with the latest Zinox computers and powered by the iPower renewable energy suite, featuring high-performance solar panels and certified lithium batteries. It also offers uninterrupted Starlink satellite internet, with LSEF funding the service for the next five years.
Ekeh described the initiative as part of his long-term commitment to upgrading Nigeria’s higher institutions to world-class standards, ensuring students graduate with practical skills that meet global industry demands. Over the last 25 years, the Zinox Group and LSEF have established and refurbished technology hubs across universities nationwide, including recent projects at St. Augustine University, Lagos, and Imo State University.
He called on political leaders, government agencies, and wealthy Nigerians to invest intentionally in education, noting that a nation’s progress depends on the quality of its graduates.
FUB Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Umar, expressed deep appreciation, describing the centre as a “transformative addition” to the institution’s academic and research infrastructure.
According to Zinox’s Head of Corporate Communications, Chimezie Orisakwe, the project aligns with Ekeh’s mission to drive digital learning in Nigeria, complementing past efforts such as scholarships, digital learning facilities, non-interest loans to young entrepreneurs, and other humanitarian causes.
