The Financial Times has announced that the 12th edition of its flagship FT Africa Summit will spotlight how Nigeria and other African nations are harnessing innovation to drive economic transformation.
Set for October 21–22, 2025, at The Peninsula in London, the summit will run under the theme “Africa in a Changing World”. The gathering will explore Africa’s transition to renewable energy, industrial expansion, and the rising impact of youth-led entrepreneurship in building sustainable, inclusive growth.
Against a backdrop of geopolitical uncertainty and rapid technological change, the conference will also examine Africa’s global role and economic positioning. Discussions will focus on policy shifts in Nigeria, Angola, and South Africa, as well as advances in fintech, AI, and digital infrastructure.
Confirmed speakers include Mahmoud Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission; Ronald Lamola, South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation; Dr David Sengeh, Chief Minister and Chief Innovation Officer of Sierra Leone; Vera Daves de Sousa, Angola’s Minister of Finance; Mohamed Mansour, Chairman of Infinity Power; and Mike Sangster, Senior Vice President Africa at TotalEnergies. Ministers and business leaders from Egypt, Mauritius, Kenya, Senegal, Angola, and Nigeria will also participate.
The event will be chaired by senior Financial Times editors and cover a wide range of topics—from geopolitics and diplomacy to trade, energy, infrastructure, finance, and investment.
FT Africa Editor David Pilling described the summit as “a vital platform to examine Africa’s role in a rapidly changing world,” noting that this year’s agenda will showcase how nations are approaching diplomacy, digital growth, and development priorities in innovative ways.
FT Foreign Editor Alec Russell added that South Africa’s hosting of the upcoming G20 summit highlights Africa’s growing influence, while also underscoring the continent’s challenges. “The FT summit provides a forum for candid dialogue on Africa’s knotty geopolitical challenges and fresh thinking on the quest for investment and innovation,” he said.
Now in its 12th year, the FT Africa Summit has become a premier platform connecting Africa with the global community, giving investors, institutions, and policymakers direct access to the ideas shaping the continent’s future.
