The Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, has called for stronger partnerships between universities, industry, community, and government to drive national capacity building and sustainable development.
Speaking in Keffi, Nasarawa State, at the opening of the 9th Annual Research Fair and Exhibition organised by the university’s Directorate of Research, Innovation, and Enterprise (DRIE), Prof. Liman said collaboration across sectors is critical to unlocking Nigeria’s innovation potential.
Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Dr. Halima Aliyu Doma Kutigi, the Vice Chancellor commended the organisers for curating a platform that fosters knowledge exchange, creativity, and research visibility.
According to her, the theme of this year’s fair, “Quadruple Helix Imperative: Shaping the Future through University, Industry, Community, Government Partnerships for Capacity Building,” aligns with the institution’s mission to advance academic excellence through strategic collaboration.
Other notable speakers included Ambassador Alewa Akawu Nasiru, Chairman of the occasion and CEO of Alewa Akawu Group, who lauded NSUK for fostering a platform that aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, and Prof. Ekanem Braide, former President of the Nigerian Academy of Science, who stressed the need for trust between academia and industry.
Prof. Braide highlighted the importance of co created curricula, joint research teams, and government incentives to translate academic research into practical solutions. The event also featured recognition awards to outstanding contributors, including Amb. Dr. Alewa Akawu Nasiru, Hon. Dr. Kassim Muhammad Kassim, and Prof. Ibrahim Katampe. It concluded with an exhibition of research outputs, networking sessions, and a reaffirmation of NSUK’s commitment to nurturing innovation and creativity among students and researchers.
