The Gamaliel & Susan Onosode Foundation (GAMSU) has inaugurated a fully equipped ICT Centre at Obele Community Junior High School in Surulere, Lagos, to enhance digital literacy and promote 21st century learning among students.
Transformed from an empty classroom into a modern digital hub, the centre is part of GAMSU’s Ideal Classroom Project, which aims to create conducive learning environments in public schools. The facility features desktop computers, work tables, chairs, ceiling fans, solar powered electricity, a projector, and a projector screen, ensuring uninterrupted access to ICT resources even during power outages.
Serving 983 students, many from low-income families, the school now has the tools to bridge the digital divide, improve teaching quality, and equip students with essential technology skills.
Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Spencer Onosode, Board Secretary, highlighted that the project reflects the vision of the late Mr. Gamaliel Onosode, who believed education is a transformative tool. Mrs. Toyin Olanrewaju, Executive Director, emphasized GAMSU’s commitment to educational equity and innovation, stating that every child deserves access to quality education and digital resources.
Representing the Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mr. Olusegun Oshinaike commended the foundation, noting that the initiative strengthens digital learning capacity not only at Obele Community Junior High School but also across surrounding schools.
Through this project, GAMSU continues to advance youth empowerment and equitable access to technology-driven education in Nigeria.
