As the world pauses to reflect on the vital role of water, Rite Foods Limited, Nigeria’s leading food and beverage company, takes action beyond words—ensuring those who keep Lagos running stay hydrated.
In celebration of World Water Day 2025, the company reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability and community well-being by distributing Bigi Premium Drinking Water to essential workers across key locations in Lagos. This initiative underscored the critical importance of clean water for health, productivity, and daily survival.
Marked annually on March 22nd, since 1993, World Water Day, which was proposed at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, focuses on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.
Themed ‘Glacier Preservation’, the 2025 World Water Day emphasises the critical role of glaciers in sustaining the planet’s water cycle. Glaciers, mountain runoff, and snowmelt provide nearly two billion people with essential water for drinking, agriculture, and energy production. As the world grapples with climate change and the rapid melting of glaciers, this year’s theme calls for urgent action to reduce carbon emissions and implement local adaptation strategies.
Taking this International Day to a greater dimension, Rite Foods Limited, the leading company in the food and beverage sector of Africa’s largest economy, took the day’s initiative to essential workers. From traffic wardens braving the scorching heat to keep Lagos’ roads orderly, to street sweepers working tirelessly to maintain a cleaner environment, and security personnel ensuring public safety, the company distributed its premium Bigi Table Water to them to quench their thirst as they work under the scorching sun.
To appreciate its unwavering dedication, Rite Foods Limited provided much-needed hydration at high-traffic locations, including Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way (Ikeja Plaza and the hospital), Ikeja Underbridge, Obafemi Awolowo by Allen to T-Junction, Kudirat Abiola Way, LTV Traffic Light, Adax Mall Traffic Light, Acme Junction (Domino’s Pizza), Ikosi Road Junction by Day Star, Ojodu (Road Safety Junction), and Berger Underbridge.
Amid the sweltering Lagos heat, where dehydration can take a toll even on the strongest individuals, this initiative was more than refreshing—it was essential.

As we mark World Water Day, we want to ensure that those who tirelessly serve our communities have access to this vital resource. At Rite Foods, we are committed to giving back to society while promoting hydration, wellness, and water conservation.”
The company has also championed other initiatives, discovering and nurturing talents for national development. A key example is the sponsorship of Nigerian Idol for five consecutive years (Seasons 6-10), showcasing the brand’s investment in entertainment, culture, and youth empowerment.
