Fidelity Bank Expands Food Bank Initiative to Anambra, Reaches 2,000 Residents
Fidelity Bank Plc has expanded its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, the Fidelity Food Bank Initiative, to Anambra State, distributing essential food supplies to more than 2,000 vulnerable residents in Awka, the state capital.
The two-day outreach, held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral (Catholic Diocese of Awka) and Emmaus House (Anglican Diocese of Awka), targeted the elderly, widows, and other vulnerable members of the community.
Speaking during the distribution, Dr. Nosa Orumwense, Regional Bank Head – Awka, Fidelity Bank Plc, reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to addressing hunger and uplifting communities across Nigeria.
“The Fidelity Food Bank was launched as part of our commitment to the well-being of our host communities. We are delighted to extend this initiative to Anambra State in collaboration with our partners, ensuring that the most vulnerable among us receive support during these challenging times,” Orumwense said.
Community leaders and beneficiaries praised the bank’s efforts. Rev. Father Levi Ukor, Director of the Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC), Catholic Diocese of Awka, commended Fidelity Bank’s intervention.
“Hunger remains a pressing issue for many households. Fidelity Bank’s decision to provide food support to such a large number of people demonstrates genuine compassion and social responsibility,” he stated.
Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, described food as a fundamental necessity and urged more organizations to emulate Fidelity Bank. Similarly, Hon. Chinedu Okafor, Chairman of Awka South Local Government Area, applauded the bank for bringing timely relief to residents battling economic hardship.
Beneficiaries also expressed heartfelt gratitude.
