Global delivery and courier platform Glovo has launched the Glovo Academy in Abuja, a strategic initiative aimed at supporting small businesses and strengthening Nigeria’s fast growing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector.
At the launch, Kolawole Adeniyi, Head of Commercial, Glovo Nigeria, emphasized the company’s commitment to Africa, noting that over 90% of Glovo’s partners across the continent are SMEs, with Nigeria exceeding 95%. Since entering Africa in 2018, Glovo has invested €206 million across six countries and facilitated over €1 billion in earnings for more than 40,000 business partners, demonstrating a significant impact on the grassroots economy.
The Glovo Academy is designed to equip MSMEs with the skills, tools, and resources needed to scale operations, embrace digital commerce, and access broader markets. The initiative highlights how private-sector platforms can create sustainable economic opportunities, empower entrepreneurs, and stimulate growth across sectors such as agribusiness, digital trade, creative industries, and renewable energy.
By prioritizing small business development, Glovo is not only transforming the delivery ecosystem but also reinforcing the critical role of MSMEs as drivers of job creation, innovation, and economic resilience in Nigeria.
