First HoldCo Plc has announced a series of board appointments across its non-commercial banking subsidiaries, as part of efforts to reinforce corporate governance, enhance strategic oversight, and position the businesses for long-term sustainable growth.
The appointments, which have received regulatory approvals from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), align with the Group’s broader strategy to embed global best practices in leadership and governance across its subsidiaries.
According to First HoldCo, the newly appointed directors bring extensive experience spanning banking, capital markets, insurance, asset management, and consulting. They are expected to support business expansion, strengthen governance frameworks, and improve product development and service delivery across the Group’s non-bank operations.
At First Asset Management Limited, Ebikabo Williams was appointed Chairman of the Board. With a strong background in banking, capital markets, and consulting, Williams is expected to further consolidate the firm’s position in Nigeria’s asset and wealth management sector. She will be joined on the board by Usman Dantata, Binta Gbinije, and Alero Adollo.
FirstCap Limited also recorded changes at the board level with the appointment of Yewande Amusan as Chairman. A seasoned finance professional with experience across both public and private sectors, Amusan will work alongside board members Ahmed Indimi, Irene Akpofure, Adenike Kuti, and Zeal Akaraiwe.
At First Securities Brokers Limited, John Akpeki was named Chairman. The firm recently ranked among the top-performing brokers on the Nigerian Exchange Limited in terms of trading volume and transaction value. Akpeki brings global marketing and networking expertise and will serve with Omolara Adeyemi, Susan Younis, and Kemi Andu-Alausa.
First Trustees Limited, the Group’s trust and estate management subsidiary, also strengthened its board with the appointment of John Lee as Chairman. Lee has over 40 years of experience in global financial services, with expertise in corporate and institutional banking and wealth management across Africa. Other board members include Abiola Alabi, Adebisi Sola-Adeyemi, and Ugochukwu Obi-Chukwu.
In the insurance segment, First Insurance Brokers Limited appointed Akinola Phillips as Chairman. He will serve alongside Ije Onejeme, Folukemi Akinmeji, and Mojisola Cardozo. The insurance brokerage celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2025.
Commenting on the appointments, Group Chairman of First HoldCo Plc, Femi Otedola, said the new board members would play a pivotal role in driving the Group’s next phase of growth.
