Muslim News has said, its management distributed packs of Malta Guinness to fasting Imams and fellow Muslims.
Now in its third year, the distribution which kicked off in Ijeshatedo, Surulere area of Lagos on Saturday, April 6, is sponsored by Guinness Nigeria, the manufacturers of Africa’s number one non-alcoholic, adult premium malt drink, Malta Guinness
In its usual humanitarian camaraderie, Muslim News, Nigeria’s most authoritative Islamic Newspaper has commenced distribution of Malta Guinness drink to Imams of central mosques and fasting Muslims in Lagos and neighbouring States.
The distribution reportedly, continued on Sunday and Monday at different mosques in Palmgrove, Iyana Ipaja, Ijegun areas of Lagos and Atan-Otta in Ogun State.
Muslim News, Publisher, Alhaji Rasheed Abubakar said the gesture was also extended to fasting Muslims who are in seclusion (itikaf) in the last ten days of the month of Ramadan.
Abubakar said the annual distribution is the third edition where Muslim News has been touching the lives of fasting Muslims.
He said, “This is our third edition of the distribution of Malta Guinness to Imams and fasting Muslims within and outside Lagos. It is our corporate social responsibility to give back to our immediate community, the Muslims for their delight. We know that giving back to the society is a way of making an impact on people’s lives.
“We got support from Guinness Nigeria, the manufacturers of Malta Guinness and Dubic Malt. The gesture started in 2020 during COVID-19 when they gave us over 20,000 staple foods as palliatives for underprivileged Muslims and non-Muslims.
“Later that year, they supplied us with thousands of free Malta Guinness drinks which was distributed to fasting Muslims and Imams. We have been getting support from Guinness to enable us to distribute to fasting Muslims.
“Even though the cans of malt we got this year are limited compared to the 10,000 cases we received two years ago, we are grateful to our sponsors for the quantity for this year. We all know the situation of the country. The adverse effects of the harsh economy on both individuals and corporate organisations. We will forever remain grateful and we will not relent in giving the packs to the Muslim community,” he added.
Many beneficiaries of the Malta Guinness free drinks extolled Muslim News, which has been serving as the authentic mouthpiece of Nigerian Muslims since its inception five years ago.
“We are very grateful to Malta Guinness for providing us with this drink. And, we appreciate the selfless efforts of the management of Rawshield PR Media, the publisher of Muslim News for facilitating this initiative,” the representatives of Mubaligu Deen Central Mosque and Alhaji Oba Alebiosu Central Mosque, at Awoyokun, Ilupeju, Lagos said.
Also speaking with Muslim News during the distribution at Atan-Otta in Ogun State, Alhaji Qasim Akintola, the Chief Imam of Igbele Ajana Central Mosque, Atan Ota, on behalf of the congregation, heartily appreciated the generous donors, Guinness, as well as the facilitators, Muslim News Nigeria for the malt drinks.
