The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has announced the launch of the Buy Africa, Build Africa Festival (BABA FEST) as part of the 20th Abuja International Trade Fair, aimed at strengthening communities, promoting African creativity, and deepening intra-continental trade.
The fair, scheduled for September 25 to October 6, 2025, at the ACCI complex, will run under the theme “Sustainability: Consumption, Incentives, and Taxation.”
ACCI President, Emeka Obegolu, represented by Dr. Aliyu Idi Hong, 2nd Deputy President and Chairman of the 20th edition, described the anniversary as a milestone in the Chamber’s two-decade commitment to sustainable business growth.
He said the newly introduced festival would celebrate African innovation and creativity through fashion showcases, live performances, art exhibitions, investment forums, and brand activations, while creating fresh opportunities for small businesses and local communities.
“Buy Africa, Build Africa is a call to action to trade within the continent, invest in African talent, and empower communities across borders,” Obegolu said.
The 12-day event is expected to host over 100,000 participants, including policymakers, multinational corporations, SMEs, diplomatic missions, and development partners. Exhibitions will cover sectors such as trade, agriculture, fintech, sustainable energy, transportation, environmental solutions, and the creative industries.
According to ACCI, the trade fair will provide small businesses with platforms for financing, partnerships, and international visibility, while panel sessions will feature major stakeholders such as the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Federal Inland Revenue Service, the National Council on Climate Change, relevant ministries, and international agencies.
Over the past 20 years, the Abuja International Trade Fair has attracted 2,500 exhibitors from across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas, facilitated trade worth billions of naira, and partnered with more than 40 diplomatic missions and trade agencies.
Obegolu urged business leaders, investors, and communities to participate in this year’s edition, describing it as a strategic platform to shape a sustainable and inclusive future for Nigeria and Africa.
