FinTribe, a Lagos-founded women-led wealth platform, has become a lifeline for over 500,000 women across 35 countries, equipping them with tools to save, invest, and own assets that once felt out of reach.
Launched in 2021 by Jennifer Awirigwe, FinTribe was born out of a simple but urgent vision: to close the financial literacy and wealth gap holding African women back. “Over 80% of African women are financially illiterate, and that reality broke me,” Awirigwe said. “I wanted to build the kind of safe community I once wished for where women can learn, save, and invest without fear.”
That vision has since blossomed into one of Africa’s largest women-focused financial movements. Together, members have saved and invested more than $4 million in under three years. More than 4,000 women have graduated from FinTribe’s Wealth Builders Academy, while its annual Finance Fair has become the continent’s largest women-centered finance gathering, drawing over 12,000 participants.
One of its most groundbreaking achievements is FinTribe Estate, a real estate initiative that turned nearly 100 women into first-time property owners. “For women who once believed land ownership was beyond their reach, this was life changing,” Awirigwe noted. “It’s proof that financial empowerment isn’t just about numbers it’s about rewriting futures.”
