In an effort to bring joy to the less privileged and indigent members of society, the Oluebube A Chukwu Foundation conducted a charitable outreach. The foundation provided free medical assistance to more than 313 patients, distributed Family Support Packs to 40 families, granted Business Grants to 16 recipients, and awarded educational grants to 14 bright pupils and students. This initiative aimed to support the underserved population across Umunneochi Local Government Area in Abia State. The foundation called on friends and associates to collaborate and contribute through donations.
Dr. Oluebube A Chukwu, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer, shared during the event held at Nkwoagu Umunneochi LGA Headquarters that the foundation was officially introduced to the world on August 25, 2023. He revealed that the idea had originated in his childhood, inspired by the exemplary lives of his parents, Professor Amarauche and Mrs. Chinomso Chukwu.
The foundation’s key areas of concentration include philanthropy and family support, offering general health services to the underserved, providing scholarships to bright but indigent pupils and students, promoting modern agricultural practices for improved yields, offering grants to small-scale businesses (especially those owned by women), and providing leadership development and mentorship in the areas they serve.
According to him, the maiden outreach experience was predicated on four key components, scholarships, Small Business Grants, Family Support Packs and a Medical Mission, adding that the Foundation Inaugural scholarship Programme was targetted at brilliant but indigent pupils and students in primary and junior secondary level of education.
He disclosed that the scholarship Programme was an annual basis and was subject to review based on the recipients saying the Foundation intent is to continually provide support as well as boost the earning capacity of the recipients.
