In a groundbreaking effort to make healthcare more accessible and affordable across Nigeria, Medplus, one of the country’s largest health and beauty retail chains, has partnered with Mobihealth International, Africa, to roll out telehealth hubs across its stores nationwide.
According to a statement released on Friday, the new initiative Medplus Telehealth will allow customers in over 140 Medplus outlets across 19 states to consult licensed doctors virtually, obtain e-prescriptions, and access genuine medications within minutes.
The partnership aims to bridge the gap between pharmacy visits and follow-up medical consultations by creating an integrated healthcare experience within Medplus locations.
Each store will feature private telehealth booths equipped with diagnostic support tools, enabling customers to receive real time consultations, obtain prescriptions, and even have medications delivered to their doorstep.
The two companies explained that the collaboration will particularly benefit busy urban residents and underserved communities, many of whom face challenges such as long wait times, high consultation costs, and limited access to quality healthcare professionals.
Speaking on the partnership, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Medplus, Mrs. Joke Bakare, said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to evolving from a pharmacy brand into a full-fledged healthcare provider.
“With over 140 stores across 19 states, we’re proud to be at the forefront of transforming pharmacy care in Nigeria. Our partnership with Mobihealth ensures that every Medplus store becomes more than just a place to buy medicine, it’s now a gateway to timely, affordable, and trusted healthcare,” she said.
Also commenting, Founder and CEO of Mobihealth International, said the collaboration represents a major step toward democratizing healthcare access in Nigeria.
“By embedding telehealth hubs in Medplus stores, we are empowering Nigerians to consult doctors anytime, anywhere, at an affordable rate, while ensuring they receive genuine medications and professional medical advice,” she stated.
Through this partnership, Medplus and Mobihealth are redefining healthcare delivery in Nigeria merging technology, trust, and accessibility to ensure that quality medical care is within everyone’s reach.
