The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed ₦6.97 million to 10 students of the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU), Abuja, underscoring its role in strengthening Nigeria’s human capital and future workforce.
In a statement released Tuesday, NELFUND reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that no Nigerian student is left behind due to financial barriers. “We are pleased to announce the disbursement of ₦6,972,000.00 to 10 beneficiaries at African Aviation and Aerospace University,” the Fund said, noting that investments in students translate into long-term economic growth.
The university’s Registrar, Mustapha Abdul, confirmed receipt of the support on July 21, describing it as a timely intervention that eases financial pressure and enables students to focus on academic excellence in aviation — a critical sector for national development.
Established under the Student Loans (Access to Higher Education) Act signed into law by President Bola Tinubu in April 2024, NELFUND has so far disbursed over ₦59 billion to more than 600,000 students across the country. According to the Federal Government, the scheme is designed not just to expand access to higher education, but also to equip young Nigerians with the skills needed to drive innovation, productivity, and economic transformation.
