Tripoint Travels is addressing Nigeria’s youth unemployment crisis with an education driven solution: the Tripoint Academy Internship Programme, designed to equip young people with real-world skills, personal growth, and pathways to meaningful work.
The first six-month cohort graduated in Lagos over the weekend, with three out of seven interns securing jobs at Tripoint Travels, while others are under consideration by partner organisations.
Managing Director of Tripoint Travels and founder of Tripoint Academy, Shuhda Muhammed, described the initiative as more than an internship calling it a movement to transform Nigerian youth into employable assets for the economy.
“Being an entrepreneur myself, I realised that we need intrapreneurs people who are innovative, responsible, and growth oriented for organisations to thrive. Many young people are educated but not employable, and this programme bridges that gap,” she explained.
The curriculum blends hands-on business training with personal development, preparing graduates to contribute meaningfully in aviation, travel, and beyond. Participants are groomed not just for jobs but for leadership, creativity, and resilience.
Dr. Olawale Anifowose, Managing Director of the Global Entrepreneurship Network (Nigeria), commended Tripoint’s model as a solution to the country’s talent gap. “By equipping young people with practical skills, Tripoint is setting an example other organisations should follow,” he noted.
For graduate Taiwo Fapohunda, the experience was life-changing: “It has been an eye-opener. With the skills and confidence I’ve gained, I know I can grow and contribute meaningfully in the world of aviation and beyond.”
Tripoint Travels is now calling on more organisations to adopt and scale this model to build a workforce of empowered, employable young Nigerians.
“This is just the beginning,” Muhammed added. “We’ve shown it can work, imagine the impact on the economy if many more organisations across Nigeria embrace this approach.”
