
Wema Bank has unveiled plans to commemorate International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, reaffirming its commitment to gender equality and financial inclusion. The event, scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in Lagos, Nigeria, will be themed “Harnessing Innovation and Technology to Accelerate Financial Inclusion for Women.”
This high-impact gathering will bring together influential women across industries to explore how technology-driven solutions can bridge financial gaps and empower women.
As part of its commitment, Wema Bank will spotlight the Big Sister Project, a flagship initiative of the Wema Women Network (WWN), which recognizes beneficiaries of its mentorship program. The event will also feature the prestigious HeForShe Awards, honoring male employees who have made significant contributions to workplace gender equality.
Beyond the main event, Wema Bank has curated a series of initiatives to support and reward women across Nigeria throughout March. These include:
Wema Bank 5 for 5 Promo (Season 4) Women’s Month Draw – A total of 131 women will receive ₦11 million in cash rewards.
Wema Women Network Outreach – A dedicated initiative to support young female students through mentorship and empowerment programs.
Speaking on the bank’s vision for women empowerment, Wema Bank MD/CEO Moruf Oseni (FCIB) emphasized the role of technology in sustainable development.

$2.4 million disbursed in partnership with the Islamic Development Finance under the BRAVE Women project.
