The African Union (AU) has participated in a high-level science–policy dialogue aimed at accelerating the implementation of regreening and land restoration initiatives across the continent, as Africa steps up efforts to combat climate change, land degradation, and food insecurity.
The dialogue brought together policymakers, scientists, development partners, and environmental experts to bridge the gap between scientific research and policy implementation. Discussions focused on translating evidence-based solutions into practical actions that can restore degraded landscapes, improve soil health, and strengthen climate resilience in vulnerable communities.
The African Union emphasized the importance of coordinated, science-led approaches to achieving continental environmental goals, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the Africa Green Stimulus Programme. Officials highlighted regreening and land restoration as critical tools for sustainable agriculture, biodiversity protection, and long-term economic stability.
