Ecobank Nigeria has deepened its support for the country’s creative industry by hosting an art exhibition in honour of legendary visual artists such as Bruce Onobrakpeya, Twins Seven Seven, and Kolade Oshinowo.
The exhibition, titled “Enduring Legacies: A Collector’s Tribute to Masters”, opened on Friday, September 5, and will run until Sunday, September 21, 2025, at EPAC Studios in Lagos. It features works by notable artists including Muraina Oyelami, Jimoh Buraimoh, Rufus Ogundele, Lamidi Fakeye, Ablade Glover, Ben Osawe, Rom Isichei, and many more.
Speaking at the opening, Ecobank Nigeria’s Managing Director, Mr. Bolaji Lawal represented by Omoboye Odu, Head of SMEs, Partnerships and Collaborations emphasised the bank’s commitment to nurturing Nigeria’s cultural and creative heritage.
“Our support underscores Ecobank’s role not only as a financial institution but also as a patron of African creativity. This exhibition aligns with our CSR focus on cultural development and complements our work in empowering creative entrepreneurs,” he said, noting that the bank has previously supported platforms such as Adire Lagos, the +234 Art Fair, and Oja Oge pop-ups.
Curator Adekepemi Aderemi described the project as a celebration of Nigeria’s deep artistic roots. “Some of these artists are long gone, but their works carry stories of heritage, identity, and brilliance. I want visitors to leave with a sense of pride and reverence for the richness of Nigerian art,” she explained.
For collector Andrew Ine, founder of KrabHouse Gallery, the exhibition was deeply personal. With a collection of over 30,000 works gathered over decades, he sees art as more than commerce. “Art speaks to me it takes me backward and forward, connecting generations. For me, this is passion, not profit. I believe even the departed masters are smiling at this moment,” he shared emotionally.
Over its duration, the exhibition is expected to draw art lovers, scholars, collectors, and cultural custodians, offering visitors a rare chance to experience the enduring brilliance of Nigeria’s artistic legends while inspiring younger creatives to carry the torch forward
