ÈKÓ EnviroTalk, a Lagos-based environmental non-governmental organisation, has launched a five-day sustainability boot camp aimed at equipping young people with the knowledge and skills to tackle climate and environmental challenges.
The initiative, tagged the 2025 Young Leaders for Sustainable Environment Programme, brings together participants aged 13 to 25 for an immersive experience featuring workshops, field trips, advocacy training, and interactive seminars.
Speaking at the virtual opening ceremony, Programme Coordinator Lasisi Adedoyin said the camp is designed to nurture the next generation of sustainability champions. He explained that the programme aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including Quality Education, Sustainable Cities, Responsible Consumption, Climate Action, and Life on Land.
“This is an opportunity for young leaders to gain the skills and networks that will empower them to drive positive change in their communities,” Adedoyin noted. “Together, we are building a healthier environment and a more sustainable future for Lagos and beyond.”
He also commended Gracefield Island for sponsoring the programme, alongside partners such as the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources and the Centre for 21st Century Issues.
ÈKÓ EnviroTalk reiterated its mission of making environmental issues more relatable through science communication, advocacy, and community-driven projects.
