Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for stronger support for the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) to accelerate growth in the nation’s power sector and drive economic development.
She made the appeal during a courtesy visit in Abuja by NDPHC’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Jennifer Adighije, where discussions centered on the company’s role in expanding power infrastructure and sustaining Nigeria’s energy needs.
Highlighting the link between reliable electricity and economic growth, Senator Tinubu stressed that NDPHC’s success would translate into greater industrial output, job creation, and improved livelihoods for Nigerians.
“It is essential that all stakeholders rally behind NDPHC’s leadership to ensure the company fulfills its mandate of advancing Nigeria’s power infrastructure,” she said. “For Nigeria to achieve steady power growth, the success of companies like NDPHC is vital. Let us all work together to support this leadership and push forward the sustainable energy agenda for our people.”
The First Lady also praised Adighije’s leadership qualities, describing her as an inspiration to young Nigerians, especially women, aspiring to contribute to national development. She urged the company’s management and staff to strengthen teamwork and remain committed to achieving milestones in power generation and distribution.
In her response, Engr. Adighije reaffirmed NDPHC’s commitment to delivering innovative projects and effective management to close Nigeria’s energy gap. She noted that improved power supply would expand opportunities for small businesses, boost industrialization, and attract investment into the economy.
The visit reflects a renewed focus on power as a foundation for Nigeria’s long-term economic transformation, with endorsements from national leaders underscoring the urgency of collaboration and sustainable energy solutions.
