Smart Energies has announced the expansion of its clean energy initiatives from cooking gas deployment to a broader portfolio of renewable energy and mobility solutions, reinforcing its commitment to community development and sustainable access.
The company highlighted that its strategy is anchored on strong collaboration with government, development partners, investors, and private sector players to scale affordable, inclusive, and innovative energy solutions across Nigeria.
Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Yinka Opeke, said the initiative is redefining energy access by combining technology, social impact, and affordability to ensure no household or community is left behind.
“Our mission is not just to power homes and businesses but to empower communities,” she said.
As part of its expansion, Smart Energies has rolled out electric motorcycles, solar-powered charging stations, prepaid cooking gas subsidy cards, and a mobile app that gives families and businesses real-time access to clean and affordable energy. By offering flexible lease-to-own programmes for riders and discounted gas subsidy cards for households, the company is tackling economic pressures while promoting clean energy adoption.
Dr. Opeke noted that these solutions prevent communities from reverting to harmful fuels such as firewood, thereby protecting health, preserving the environment, and ensuring energy equity. She stressed that the company operates with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles at its core, aligning all initiatives with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
From its “Trash-for-Gas” campaign that distributed 70,000 cylinders to LPG safety trainings and now renewable energy mobility, Smart Energies has consistently placed people at the centre of its operations.
Calling for broader partnerships, Opeke added: “The challenges of energy market development are bigger than any single company can address. That is why we invite governments, agencies, and private sector players to join us in accelerating sustainable energy adoption. Together, we can create solutions that not only power economies but uplift lives.
